Early_learning_mc1.jpgWhen you engage more than just your students' ears, they learn more.  So, how can you create lessons that let your students move, talk, listen, see, touch, feel, create and, most importantly, learn?  Here are 10 ideas.

  1. I Can Go Faster.  Take learning to a deeper—and more hands-on—level by having your students dream up, design, create and race their own race cars.
  2. Claim, Evidence, Learning.  Instead of just asking your kids to write their conclusions to a scientific experiment, turn your class into a jury and let them decide if the evidence fits the conclusion.
  3. Writing on The Tables.  Let your students touch their letters and numbers by letting them use dry erase markers, rice, salt, shaving cream and more to "write" on their tables.
  4. History Through Art.  Use art to teach about the emotions surrounding important historical events.
  5. All Aboard the Technology Train.  Get individual technology like e-Readers, iPads and MOBI's into the hands of your students and watch their learning take off.
  6. At the Store.  Help your students plan a list with a week's worth of grocery's, budget for their purchases using ads and then go grocery shopping virtually on an online store.
  7. The Incredible Edible Cell.  Touch cells by making models of cells using jello (with fruit or candy organelles).
  8. Make Downtime Count.  Engage your students with interactive technology and games between lessons and during transitions.
  9. The People.  Use photos, art, journals and literature to help your students create a timeline that highlights people's lives during the Holocaust.
  10. Where is My Twin.  Convert learning fractions into a walking, moving and comparing game where kids can get up, get moving and learn.

Question for you:  How do you incorporate all five sense into your lessons?

Some great Ideas here, can I add using audio to  create a medieval news report pod-cast! If your focus is Henry 8th, his wives and children, you could mix it up a little by doing it in the style of a confessional chat show al la Ricki Lake using role play!  http://creative-ict.blogspot.com
