First year teachers, you have begun a new journey in a career that is definitely rewarding but also challenging. The first year will make you wonder if your career choice was really wise; endure to the end. You will grow tremendously as an individual and educator in your first year (and many after that), and all of those experiences will make you develop into an effective professional who has the fantastic responsibilty of shaping future generations. As I tell my children, friends, and students, nothing worthwhile comes easily; you must be challenged to develop character. Teachers are masters of character and character development. As you continue in this honorable profession, you will affect lives in positive manners that you may never know about, but in the hearts of those students, they will know how you influenced their lives. Endure to the end; it will get better.
